A few days after his meeting with Defense Minister Bnei Gantz, Palestinian Authority Chairman Abu Mazen today (Friday) spoke out strongly against Israeli policy.
In his speech today, Abu Mazen said that the anniversary of the founding of Fatah "came in difficult circumstances as a result of the total hated Israeli occupation, which deepens acts of oppression and persecution against our people, looting our land and our natural resources, and stifling our economy and confiscating our tax money."
Abu Mazen also claimed that Israel "restricts the freedom of our people and pursues a policy of racial discrimination, ethnic cleansing and organized terrorism that we reject."
In a speech broadcast on Palestinian television, the chairman of the Palestinian Authority added that "our patience has ended in the harsh reality with which we have lived for nearly eight decades.
"We will never accept the systematic actions of the Israeli occupation to change the character and identity of the city of Jerusalem and the attack on the holy places, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the Ibrahim Mosque in Hebron."
Later in his speech, Abu Mazen praised the "steadfast stand of the prisoners for their sacrifice in the face of the occupation."
He added: "We will never give up on you, for your struggle is a sign of heroism that testifies to your sacrifice in defending your homeland and your people."
Abu Mazen also commemorated Yasser Arafat and "all our martyrs who were killed in defense of Palestine, the people, the issue and the independent national decision."
Alongside these words, the chairman of the Palestinian Authority said: "We reach out for a just and comprehensive peace within the framework of an international conference to be held in accordance with international decisions and sponsored by the Quartet, with a view to ending the occupation of Palestinian land and Jerusalem."
